Required Qualifications
• Bachelor of Arts program in Theatre with an emphasis in Theatrical Design and Production
• Working knowledge and experience of all areas of technical theatre
• Physical strength, coordination, and flexibility (must climb ladders / trestles and be able to lift over 50 lbs)
• Scene shop experience in academic theatre
• Strong understanding of power and hand tools and their safe use within a scene shop
• Ability to interact well with others and understand common vocabulary among artisans
• Must be highly-organized, self-motivated, and self-sufficient

Responsibilities/Duties
Applicant will be responsible for working in the scene shop collaborating with the Technical Director and Assistant Technical Director/Shop Foreman in the planning, construction, and load-in/load-out, of all productions produced by the Department of Music, Theater, and Dance; will be expected to execute assigned projects within established deadlines while also supervising practicum and work study students in their daily assignments; will execute specific production-related responsibilities and duties; must be able to work at any height on ladders (including trestle style i.e. “a-frame”), Genie personnel lifts, scaffolding, and a wide variety of catwalks; assist Producing Technical Director and Assistant Technical Director in year-round maintenance, upkeep, and organizational tasks associated with running a large arts center and theatre construction facility. Some evenings and weekends required during rehearsal and production runs and special events. This is a professional entry-level position emphasizing skill acquisition necessary for further professional advancement or graduate school opportunities in theatre production.

• Ability to skillfully operate industrial and domestic sewing machines and sergers
• Ability to operate industrial steam iron

Preferred Qualifications
• Graduate degree in Costume Construction, Design, or Fashion Design
• 1-2 year experience in a professional theatre or academic department costume shop

Position: Special Assistant Professor of Music Education – Secondary Choral Emphasis
One-year position
Starting Date: August 16, 2011
Qualifications: Doctorate or ABD in Choral Conducting or Music Education required. Significant secondary level teaching experience required and college level teaching experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to conduct a major choral ensemble. Ability to teach secondary choral methods. Interest in advocacy for and leadership in music education.
Responsibilities: Contribute to the leadership and direction for well-established programs in music education; teach secondary choral methods; Conduct the Concert Choir, a mixed choir of 45-50 students; supervise student teachers; recruit undergraduate and graduate music education majors; participate in departmental governance and appropriate public events; help department build strong relationships with the regional secondary teachers through service/communication.
