The Department of Art is the most comprehensive visual arts program in the Rocky Mountain West, and is one of the largest academic departments at Colorado State. It is committed to providing exceptional educational programs for the B.F.A. and M.F.A. degrees in Studio Art, the B.A. degree in Art History and the B.A. degree in Art Education. Full studio programs are offered in Drawing, Fibers, Graphic Design, Jewelry/Metalsmithing, Painting, Photography, Pottery, Printmaking and Sculpture. Exhibitions and lecture series present world-famous, academically relevant art programs that complement course work. An established study abroad program is offered in Castiglion Fiorentino, Italy.

The primary goal of the Music Department is to prepare students to become highly skilled music educators, music therapists, performers, composers and conductors. Program goals encourage and develop high standards of teaching, scholarship, performance, and research in music. We are pleased to offer small academic classes, applied study with highly qualified faculty, and careful attention to advising. Courses in music appreciation, music theory fundamentals, and ensembles are open to all students regardless of major.

The Theatre Program at Colorado State University offers a curriculum that allows students numerous opportunities to study, train, and explore theatre in all performance and design/technical fields culminating in a Bachelor of Arts degree. Students of Theatre at CSU can expect a theatrical education with a broad scope. As underclassmen all students attend classes in acting, directing, theatrical design and technical theatre. Upper division classes allow students to select advanced study in their individual interest areas. In addition to class time students may gain valuable experience in acting, design and technical work via the program’s mainstage and experimental productions.

The Dance Program at Colorado State University offers numerous opportunities to study, train, and explore dance topics culminating in a B.A. degree. Students develop a strong base in classical and contemporary techniques and gain substantial experience in performance, choreography, and teaching. Courses include ballet, modern, and jazz technique; choreography; history; pedagogy; production; senior concert; touring dance company; and anatomy/kinesiology. Performance and choreographic opportunities are available at CSU, including formal and informal productions, collaborations, and traveling to ACDFA festivals.
